Your headlights, just like your paint, have a clear coat on them. As the suns beats on it week after week, the clear coat starts to deteriorate. Eventually what was the clear coat turns into an ugly yellow layer gunk.

Considering the heat that Yuma produces, your headlights are exposed to maximum heat- and if you park your car directly in the sun for most of the day, that’s only going to add to the damage. Because of the material of the headlights, the clear coat on them don’t last nearly as much as the clear coat on the paint.

It can be a bit tricky. Typical waxes and sealants will only protect your car for so long. If you park your car in the shade most of the time, then they’ll simply last longer than if you park outside in the sun most of the time.

You can apply a sealant or wax to your headlights every 3 to 5 weeks. This can take less than 15 minutes to do.
